Spending the last night of the year, rockin with these fine musicians at the Beacon Theatre. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Gov’t Mule spending New Year’s in New York and they will be celebrating in tradition with their very special 3-set performance on New Year’s Eve. They will be joined by my dear friend, the very talented Machan Taylor… Lucky Me!!
Peace Love& Misunderstanding at the Woodstock Film Festival! It was great to see the Bruce Beresford’s film on the big screen at The Rosendale Theater, feeling the wave of emotion from WACBIZ artist Mieka Pauley’s featured song “Devil’s Got My Secret.”
"Another crowd-pleaser, directed by the veteran Bruce Beresford and giving Jane Fonda her juiciest screen role in years. In fact, she sends up her own image by playing an old hippie — a sculptor and the most popular pot dealer in Woodstock, N.Y., where she at one point attends an anti-war rally.
Fonda easily gets more laughs than Barbra Streisand does in a similar part in “Meet the Parents” and its excerable sequel, introducing her teenage grandchildren (Elizabeth Olsen, a likely Oscar nominee for “Martha Marcy May Marlene” and Nat Wolff of TV’s “The Naked Brothers Band”) to weed and helping both of them to lose their virginity (Olsen to Chace Crawford of “Gossip Girls” as an “organic” butcher).
The kids have been brought to Woodstock by their mother, an uptight lawyer (Catherine Keener) who hasn’t had anything to do with mom since her wedding but decides to flee there when her husband (briefly seen Kyle McLachlan) asks for a divorce. There are the predictible mother-daughter culture clashes betweeen daughter and mother, who fixes up the former with a local singer (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), much to the kids’ horror. by Lou Lumenick NY Post
It was my honor to Music Supervise the forthcoming documentary WHAM! BAM! ISLAM! for the Director Isac Solotaroff and producer Katharyn Bond. Please tune in next week to PBS or go to ITVS to experience this amazing story.!
“FRONTLINE/Worldran a story from the Middle East that introduced viewers to the fastest selling comic book in the Arab world, The 99. The comic features characters with super powers based on the concept of Allah’s 99 attributes, including wisdom and generosity, as taught in the Koran. Its creator, Naif al-Mutawa, is a 36-year-old from Kuwait who was educated in the United States and who, as a boy, devoured Marvel comics and the Hardy Boys mysteries.
Reporter Isaac Solotaroff followed al-Mutawa as he marketed his comics throughout the Middle East, hoping to spread a moderate, modern image of Islam to the world. In this update, Solotaroff catches up with al-Mutawa in Jakarta, Indonesia, where the comic creator is trying to sell his work to the largest Islamic country in the world, a country that accounts for one in six of all Muslims worldwide.”
